Dental Implants

Accidents happen. So does age. Sometimes teeth are lost. Sometimes they cannot be saved.

Dental implants are the permanent solution to missing teeth. The implants are embedded in your jawbone just like a natural tooth. Implants have the benefit of not ever developing cavities, and can be inserted without affecting the surrounding teeth. If cared for properly, implants can last a lifetime.

HOW DO IMPLANTS WORK?

Implants require the involvement of an oral surgeon and a dentist or prosthodontist. The first part of having an  implant requires oral surgery where a  titanium screw is inserted into the jaw where it fuses. This process is called 'osseo-integration'. The process of healing usually takes between three and four months.

The next stage is the prosthesis: or placement of a crown on top of the implant. Your Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon will work closely with your prosthodontist or dentist to achieve the perfect end result.
